Last week I was cutting paper for another project and I ended up with these long strips of scrap. Being the pack rat that I am, I just couldn't toss them. Jump to yesterday, when wrapping my Christmas gifts, I realized I didn't have enough ribbon. I decided to add painterly brush strokes to the strips! Enter painted paper ribbons! They work great! Give 'em a go!
What you need: Paper, paint, brush, palette, tape, and scissors
Step One: Cut long strips of paper and loosely paint the color of your choice on both sides. I cut 1" wide strips, but choose a size that works best with your packages!
Step Two: Cut 2 pieces at 14", 2 at 10" and 1 at 3". Shape the 14" and 10" into a figure 8 shape and secure with tape. Wrap the 3" strip into a circle and add tape. Stack the pieces together to form the bow and add atop your gifts.
I made a few other fun things with the paper strips... garland, an accordion folded flower, and some abstract pom poms! Fun!
